YOu and Muska are the same. Five trick ponies. "IF" you enter that would be amazing, because you haven't been consistent as far as keeping your word. i.e. getting fired from a skate shop for not showing up. Yeah, I know about that shit. Word up, and keep your head up. Someday you'll find a job you can keep.

Oh, and fuck corey duffel. But don't believe what some random dude that's commenting said. That info is not necessarily reliable.

how old was he when he said that stupid shit? 16 or something. Its no excuse but when your from a small town and haven't seen alot of the world, what your exposed to could have a big effect on you. All i'm saying is alot of people say and do stupid shit when they don't know any better. hopefully he's grown and i'm sure all the flack he's gotten since then has made him realise some things. This was all so long ago, unless there's some new development recently i don't think your post is really doing too much apart from stirring up the same kind of hatred.

oh and i don't live in america, maybe thats why i find your post so silly. In england we grow up in the same council estates(pj's to you) as black folks and aren't segregated like you guys. I don't feel the need to express how may black friends i have to justify that i have an opinion on this. You wear your blackness like some kind of badge of honour. But you get paid by the SAME industry thats keeping corey in tight pants and ramones tee shirts. maybe thats why your so pissed?

So you don't think anyone can regret something they said aged sixteen and change their ways or opinions? Neither you nor i know what is up with that kid but it seems like he is forever damned in your eyes. the fact is that people do stupid shit when they're young. If he was in his twenties or thirties i wouldn't give him the chance but it sounds like you would prefer him to be a stupid racist rather than learning and becoming a better person.

Saying that someone made a racist comment several years ago and that's all they can ever be is just as ignorant as saying that black people were slaves several years ago and that's all they can ever be. People can change, the social climate can change, and society has to adapt.
You don't have to forgive Duffel's comment or forget about it, but you have to accept that maybe he's grown up a little bit in the last 6 or 8 years, and that it's worth giving him a chance to redeem himself.
Reviving a story like this long after it's been largely forgiven and forgotten (and not stating in the beginning that this is not a current event), is pretty useless. I thought there had been some new development in the case when I saw the headline and his photo, but I quickly realized that you were just stirring the pot.
I'm not saying that what Duffel said was right, but you do have to realize that he was a 16 year old kid, and not as worldly as you were then or are now. If you brought this up to stimulate a dialogue on race relations and make people aware of Corey Duffel's past mistakes, good show, but if you're trying to inspire some kind of boycott you're going to need more recent evidence.

i wear my "blackness" like a badge..

*looks back up at her letter*

"In england we grow up in the same council estates..".. jesus. talk about, "from the outside lookin in.."

listen.. instead of worrying about how i "wear my Blackness"(whatever the fukk that means!), you should be worried about the following things:

-toothbrush
-extra strength toothpaste
-deodorant

and why would i be mad he gets paid in the same industry? do i pay him? no. we on the same team? no. does his checks cut into mine? no. im bringing up a very good issue, and the most yall can say is "he was a kid", "you're pro black", and other nonsense..

now. you tell me, whos REALLY mad here? the truth hurts. ya mans is a racist, and i pulled his bish ass skirt. if you dont like it, im sure yall can discuss it while shopping for Manpons...

wow... and when was this "largely forgiven, and forgotten.."? and by WHO?

furthermore- didnt i just say i got info from KIDS who saw him yelling "N!gger" at the top of his lungs, after falling on a trick..?

yeah..

that dudes "grown up" alot. quit making up lies saying hes been "largely forgiven, and the stories been forgotten about". youre lying to yourself, and anyone who skateboards.

and yes- this is great conversation. not "stirring a pot". "stirring a pots" asking whos better- Hosoi or Tony Hawk. as i said. this shouldnt have eeven been read by most of you, because the conversation is waaaaaaay over your head.

^^^^^^^^^^ hahahaha, but so fucking true.....

but seriously if the guy is a racist don't moan about it with your blog reading fools. get on a fucking plane, meet up with dude and knock him the fuck out. imagine i walked up to you(and trust me, im pretty fucking white, not much sun where im from) and n-worded ya? watcha gonna do? nothing, and moan about it for weeks??
now a similar situation, if u saw that twat duffel skating across the street, missing tricks, n-wording the shit out of himself, are u just gonna walk by n let it slide? i dont think so.

SPRINGERS FINAL THOUGHT : there are people out there who can change, maybe not corey duffel who seems more than ever to be a racist bastard, but dont dismiss the fact that a person can change. look at someone like tom cruise. he NOW truly believes we came from aliens and that eating new born baby placenta is healthy. it may not be a good example but his whole belief system has completely changed.so keep that in mind or not when you say a racist will always be a racist.

although most racists never change and should be shot.

I question why you haven't used any of your connections at the various publications to stop any kind of coverage of this guy, or gone to talk to him yourself. you got a black guy on black label, surely you can get a white guy off foundation.

maybe you could start an awareness campaign? anything is better than complaining on your blog, and your stature in the skateboarding industry affords you the notoriety to actually do something about it. good luck.

what connections.. we on the same team? no one i personally know pays him.. the ones who do, would never wanna have a comprehensive conversation regarding it. therefore- i brought it up...

basically, my points proven. skateboarding has VERY long ways to go in terms of racism. dont worry. one day, itll all make sense.

in closing, i havent gotten, nor heard one reply by anyone other than whytes.. interesting, ya think. go to the skatepark, and ask a group of black, latino, or asian kids what they think about Stevie Williams openly being called "N!gger" then get back with me...

you people make little, to no sense.. get outside, and talk to PEOPLE more.. you'll learn some shyt.

As an industry, skateboarding isn't THAT big. It'd be one thing if you were in the mortgage industry or something a bit larger, but skateboarding is still a pretty tight-knit deal. If you, a long-standing sponsored pro, wanted to sit down with someone at a skate company, i'm sure you could make it happen (even if you had to barge into the office on some guerilla type shit).

Another idea: get a video him yelling "nigger" and post it all over the web so that you create some pressure on his sponsors. Until it's in the collective consciousness of the skateboarding community (instead of an article from several years ago), the industry isn't going to do anything to prevent it. Right now, most people have forgotten, and his over-flared, sober ass is probably still selling a few boards, shoes, etc. (however few it may be).

Local kids say that it's "fucked up", and then go back to skating because it doesn't effect their day-to-day. This argument is more on principle than actual impact. And I agree, in principle this is fucked up and shouldn't be. But, I'm not in a position to do anything about it, and it doesn't really impact me at all besides being annoyed, which I already was with him before I ever found out that he said that.

I'm not questioning that validity of your stance on the issue. I'm questioning your methods of affecting change. I hope that this blog starts a huge industry backlash that eventually gets him booted since he's clearly a racist and not that great of a skater.
